Outboard motors face an entirely different set of concerns than automobile engines. Marine engines are significantly more prone to rust than automobile engines, leading to uncontrolled wear and premature engine failure. And unlike most automobiles, the outboard duty-cycle frequently involves a combination of full throttle operation and extended idle times, rather than a variable mix of more moderate engine speeds. Meanwhile, a virtually unlimited supply of water is available to keep engine operating temperatures low. The vertical crankshaft orientation of outboard engines places much higher stress on the engine oil as compared to automotive engines.

Applications for:

Injex Marine 4-Cycle Motor Oil is designed for use in 4-cycle outboard engines where the engine manufacturer specifies engine oil certified to meet the high performance requirements of the new National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) FC-W standard.

Injex Marine 4-Cycle is not intended for use in passenger cars or light trucks with gasoline engines. It is not suitable for use in 2-stroke cycle outboard engines of any kind, whether direct oil injection or premix engines, where the manufacturer specifies an NMMA TC-W3 certified oil. (Injex 2-Cycle TC-W3 Oil is recommended for those applications).
