Solutions for Automotive

The Kendall Refining Company was founded in 1881 by William Willis, E. R. Loomis and R. H. Childs in Bradford, Pennsylvania with the goal of refining local Pennsylvania Grade Crude Oil into kerosene, lubricants and greases. From the very beginning Kendall has been an innovator in the oil industry, producing the highest quality product of the day. Prior to the establishment of an oil refinery, the name Kendall was familiar to the residents of Bradford, Pennsylvania. In order to secure an approval for a Bradford-based post office, city officials named the local creek in honour of Mr. Kendall, the Postmaster General of the United States. In return for this honour, the city was granted its own post office. When the refinery was constructed in 1881, it was called the Kendall Refinery because of its close proximity to Kendall Creek.

As a pioneer of lubrication technology and product design, Kendal established the first petroleum research and development centre in Pennsylvania. This led to developments such as the first oil designated for winter use and extended drain intervals.

In 1928, Kendall's famous two finger logo commemorated the launch of the first "2,000-Mile" motor oil.

Although no longer producing aviation oils, for many pilots of the 1920's Kendall's Penzbest Motor Oil was synonymous with endurance. In 1928 dozens of planes attempted to fly from New York to Los Angeles; 25 of the 40 planes that successfully completed the trip had Kendall Penzbest Motor Oil in their engines. Later that year, all of the aircraft that completed the Los Angeles to Cincinnati air race used Kendall Motor Oil. Other revolutionary developments include the first pre-packaged, factory sealed one-quart oil-cans that assured quality and performance. Competitors soon adopted similar packaging. In 1953, Kendall Motor Oil's innovative packaging design was inducted into the prestigious 'Packaging Hall of Fame."

Kendall® GT-1® full synthetic and synthetic blend motor oils with

Put some teeth in your motor oil lineup

Engines are put to the test every day, whether it’s grinding through the daily commute or loaded down for long-distance vacation duty. Give drivers the ultimate in engine protection with Kendall® GT-1® full synthetic and synthetic-blend motor oils, now engineered with our exclusive Liquid Titanium™ anti-wear additive.

Introducing titanium-strength engine protection

Kendall GT-1 oils with Liquid Titanium give customers an exclusive new way to fight engine wear, prolong engine life and reduce friction. Liquid Titanium bonds to the surface of critical engine parts to help protect against metal-to-metal contact, especially in friction hot spots, thereby reducing wear.

Why Liquid Titanium ?

Titanium has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal in existence. Kendall’s Liquid Titanium additive technology gives engines a titanium-strength shield at friction hot spots. As the titanium chemically bonds to critical engine parts, an extra layer of protection forms to mitigate engine wear and reduce friction. Reduced friction may also help improve fuel economy

DRAMATIC WEAR PROTECTION RIGHT WHERE IT’S NEEDED

Testing confirms that titanium-enhanced oil helps reduce wear, particularly in friction hot spots where wear is most prevalent. In demanding Sequence IIIG industry tests that simulate trailer towing in hot weather, Kendall GT-1 5W-20 with Liquid Titanium dramatically reduced engine wear by 75 percent compared to the ILSAC GF-4 requirements. In standard Sequence IVA industry tests that simulate lower temperature operations, the GT-1 titanium-enhanced oil reduced engine wear by 85 percent compared to the ILSAC GF-4 requirements.

Exclusive wear protection

Liquid Titanium’s molecular-level wear protection helps keep engines running longer. It creates a protective film where wear normally occurs to give engines an extra shield of defense. Tests confirm the oil’s effect on reducing wear. In demanding Sequence IIIG industry tests that simulate trailer towing in hot weather, Kendall GT-1 5W-20 with Liquid Titanium reduced wear by 75 percent when compared to the ILSAC GF-4 performance requirements, and by 56 percent when compared to a commercially available competitive 5W- 20 oil. In Sequence IVA tests that simulate lower temperature operations, Kendall GT-1 5W-20 with Liquid Titanium reduced wear by 85 percent compared to the ILSAC GF-4 performance requirements, and 62 percent compared to a commercially available competitive 5W-20 oil. Kendall GT-1 synthetic and synthetic-blend motor oils meet or exceed all industry standards.

The GT-1 lineup includes special formulations for Asian and European vehicles, as well as GT-1 Ultimate Synthetic, which meets the requirements of the GM4718M “Corvette” specification for high-performance engines, the strictest standard set by high-end car manufacturers in North America.

LOWER FRICTION MORE PROTECTION

Tests reveal that Kendall GT-1 5W-20 with Liquid Titanium delivers lower valve train
friction during start-up, steady-state and stop-and-go driving. Tests show up to a
5.49 percent reduction in friction compared to a commercially available competitive,
reduced friction 5W-20 oil. Lower friction may lead to fuel economy improvements.
